I wish I could garden, but at least I can enjoy an effective one!
Once I asked my husband the best kind of plant to keep on my desk at school and he said, "Silk."

Maybe your hubby should provide a bouquet of fresh flowers for your desk once a week. Even a single bloom in a bud vase would be cheery. I have to admit I have a few silk flowers here and there in my house. ;)
I like the idea of a few roses from my husband! Actually, we've been buying huge bunches of eucalyptus at the Farmer's Market and I love them. They smell so great. Maybe they would work in my classroom. If not, roses for a fallback.
